Former chief financial officer to oversee premier owner/operator of retirement communities
Senior Living Communities, an owner and operator of 11 luxury retirement communities located throughout the Southeast, has selected Wallace M. Saunders to be the company’s new president. The announcement was made at the company’s annual meeting on Thursday, July 15 by CEO Donald Thompson.
Mr. Saunders joined Senior Living Communities as chief financial officer following a career in investment banking with Wachovia Securities and Edgeview Partners. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Saunders will preside over a company enjoying a sustained period of growth and financial success despite difficult market conditions. During his tenure as CFO, the company has added to its portfolio through acquisitions, development of new communities and expansion of existing communities. Acquisitions include Marsh’s Edge in St. Simons Island, Ga. and Cascades Verdae, in Greenville, S.C. Newly developed communities include Watersong in Melbourne, Fla., Abingdon at Tradition in Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Brightwater in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Senior Living Communities has also recently made significant investments in infrastructure, adding new wellness centers and technological advances in healthcare to help members live longer, happier and more independent lives.
